We believe that in order to be part of the fabric of Fannin County, we must find ways to “give back” to our local community. Blue Ridge Community Theater strives to be an active member of Fannin County. Collaborative efforts manifest themselves in a number of ways.
The Theater participates and collaborates with other organizations and supports the arts in the area. We use the resources of the Theater to work with the Art Center in the Spring and Fall for Arts in the Park and for special programs. Often actors are used to increase the visual theme or to add an element of theater to the Arts Fair program. The Theater considers the Art Center a partner in bringing art and entertainment to the area.
The Theater is an active member and is represented in many community organizations. This includes the Chamber of Commerce and the Georgia Tourism Board. Theater’s volunteers serve on countless nonprofit boards ranging from Friends of the Library, Kiwanis, Rotary, Habitat for Humanity, Humane Society – the list is endless. Volunteering and encouraging volunteerism in the community is part of our theater culture.
Blue Ridge Community Theater takes giving back one step further. Financially, many other nonprofit organizations struggle. The Theater selects another nonprofit organization for each of the main stage productions and donates twenty percent (20%) of the proceeds of ticket sales and concessions for the First Thursday Performance of each new play. The organization is a predesignated non-profit organization serving the Blue Ridge, Fannin County Community. The determination of the NPO is based on the subject matter of the play, the input of the play director, the approval of the BRCT Board, approval of the BRCT Artistic Committee, and most importantly, the organization’s record in supporting the community and its ability to build an audience and create early excitement for the show.
