Paul and Corie are newlyweds in every sense of the word. He’s a straight-as-an-arrow lawyer and she’s a free spirit, always looking for the latest thrill. After their six-day honeymoon they land in their too expensive, leaky, dreary New York City apartment…until they get a surprise visit from Corie’s loopy mother for whom they play matchmaker with the nutty neighbor upstairs. As everything goes wrong, the young married couple learn what marriage is all about, including spontaneity…like running barefoot in the park

Now, Corie is moved out and Ethel is an empty-nester and is unsure what her next move is as a single, unattached woman. She is excited to watch Corie and Paul turn into young adults, even though her daughter's approach may be a little mystifying to her.
